Year End Gatherings
This post is about how I close the year 2005 with my various groups of friends..
Wednesday 21st Dec 2005
Group: SP Year 2 Classmates
Place: Bugis Junction, Upp Thomson, Orchard Cineleisure
Everyone who attends this function have to buy a gift for gift exchange that costs between 5 and 10 dollars. I bought my present on Monday though. The guys were supposed to meet at Orchard so that Jun Hong can buy his xmas gift exchange present. Hence, I went to Jurong East to check out the duty roster for 105 and the gang. haha..
I was late for the boys outing. It turned out that jh has bought his gift already. This led us to a wasted trip to Orchard. we went to Bugis MacDonald's to meet the girls instead. Seeing that we have time to kill (Its only 5pm and we can only arrive at June Lin's place at 7pm), we guys went to play battlefield nearby. :) carolyn and amber joined us shortly - for maple. gek san and wendy went shopping instead.
Ah well it was then time to head to JL's place at Upp Thomson. jiamin joined us from her driving lesson while we were walking to the bus stop. Took Service 980 there. We arrived at Lakeview - drizzling. What to do? walk briskly to her place in the rain lor... it started to get heavy as we walked along the pathway..
A short catchup session with june lin and the rest of the gang ensued when we were at her place. her dog's quite cute. her sons are cool to play with. to think the elder son of 5 years old calls me uncle -_-"
The girls had some medicure session after dinner while the guys... played blackjack. haha.. the girls were finished with their stuff and came over to see us play.

We bid farewell and went downtown cineleisure for K Box. Only Junxiao, Kim Yong, Chris, JH, HJ, Carolyn, Amber, Wendy and me went.. The guys are so 'gentlemanly' by taking junxiao's rented car downtown, leaving the girls (and me) to take the bus. haha.. Eventually, we got to the kbox outlet the same time as the guys. so crap.
This was half of the room with 4 out of the 9 people captured in the picture. Amber and Carolyn were next to Wendy. haha.. We sang from 2330hrs all the way until the next morning - 0550hrs. It was a great time having to sing and sing all night and surprisingly, my throat didnt turn that rough after that. The guys gradually slept as the girls conquered the mike after 3am. Junxiao got tired and went to makan while we continue singing.
I sang most of the english songs that were played because i selected them. Surprisingly I was able to sing quite a fair bit of chinese songs even though my computer mp3 didnt have them. The rest have quite an even knowledge of the songs that were played.
There was this song which I was supposed to sing (Jolin Tsai's Diao Dai) but thanks to system shutdown at 0550hrs we have to leave. I was complaining that i didnt sing that song and apparently the girls were still high enough to sing... :S tsk tsk tsk.. K box is addictive/possessive!
We went back at 6am, with wendy taking the bus and the rest of us taking the train. junxiao sent chris and kim yong home via his rented car. It was an enjoyable night out! :D

Place: Singapore Indoor Stadium, Choa Chu Kang Interchange, Clarke Quay MRT, Jurong West St 75
We started off with Stadium Direct services and thanks to weiliang and my idea, we pong the correct service - the boon lay route. why? There's SBS 8020 R on the service! Together with zyx and hr we took the bus to the west, before going back to town via NR5, took a cameo Strider 181M bus up to CCK, back down town again on NR3 and then its homeward bound.
I was lazy to walk home and hence i rotted at Toa Payoh Interchange until the first bus of 238 left at 0515hrs.

Monday 26th Dec 2005
Group: Kuo Chuan Presbyterian 6C 1999
Place: Marina South, Marina Centre
Its Boxing Day which means the people heading out would be quite a number. I went to Pasir Ris to get the S518 promotion guides before heading downtown to meet the gang at Marina Bay MRT at 1730hrs. I was kinda deprived of sleep because my parents woke me up rather early in the morning to do errands. Hence, I slept in the S36 bus from the airport all the way downtown. I reached Marina Bay MRT at 1740hrs.
People present were Yen Soon, Jason, Kai Wei, Darren, Chen Yeow, Isaac, Jia Hao, Xueyan, Sueyin, Celeste, Michelle, Brenda and Xuemei. Of course myself included. We went to Chong Pang Steamboat cos Darren knows the auntie there. Got ourselves a $10 steamboat instead of the usual $12 thanks to that. =) Had quite a bit of catching up to do with most of the people there because its been 2 years since i have met most of the people.
Slacked at the place for like 3 hours until 8pm odd before we decided to go to Marina Centre for some Kbox. Got Room 16 and its damn spacious! =D As usual I sang the usual song as per the previous Wednesday. Just that I didnt sang At The Beginning =X dunno who to sing with. ha... Gradually, one by one went back during the K session until closing time at 3am. We were left with Xueyan, Jason, Kai Wei, Darren and me.

We went to the Esplanade to slack until dawn. Chit chatted regarding alot of things... crap stuffs as well as army stuffs as well. haha... At 6am, Xueyan took cab home, the 3 guys took 56 while I went to BBDC for driving in the morning. Imagine that!
Dave Leowe was the instructor that day. Kinda friendly guy.. He helped me correct some of my habits and all.. haha.. Went home by car to sleep later in the day.
Tuesday 27th Dec 2005
Group: Meridian JC Regulus 2 Year-End Outing
Place: Orchard Heeren, Parklane Shopping Ctr
Meeting time was 1730hrs Orchard MRT. But since its raining people were late. haha.. It was Benjy's idea to go to NYDC Heeren instead of Wheelock. Apparently he kinda regretted the decision.. Attendance at the dinner table were Simin, Dawn, Charmaine, Yuto, Benjy, Daryl, Jian Yuan and me.
Why Benjy regretted his decision? One reason is that the booth next door was selling the Sentosa Beach Countdown tickets and the MC there was playing music using the speaker. Hence, we need to speak louder to make ourselves heard across the table. Another reason is that it was raining heavily while we were about to eat the mudpies. haha.. Lucky thing it was quite alright as we were not sitting near the Orchard sidewalk.
What's next? WHAT ELSE BUT POOL?! haha.. We really cannot think of things that we could do together. We went to Singapore Shopping Ctr only to realise that the pool centre will be closed within 30min from the time we were there. We went to Parklane Shopping Mall instead. In the midst of everything, we happily caught up with anyone and everyone there. It was been a great evening with them even though it was only a few hours. Kudos to Santa Mama Laura for coming down from work despite not joining us for dinner :) Why santa mama? she was giving out sweets and chocolates and the like after she came. Benjy, Simin went off to Dhoby Ghaut MRT first, as the same time we sent Dawn off at the bus stop before sending Charmaine off at the Bencoolen St bus stop. lolz.. The remaining few of us went to Bugis and took the train home while Yuto and I took the bus home. Plans are underway for a Chingay outing to support Laureen as well as an outing after A level results at the request from our dearest Laureen. lolz.. She requests for a bigger group though. Its hard but i'll try.

Place: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Took time off out of Singapore to go to Malaysia to rest and relax. We stayed at Capitol Hotel at Bt Bintang. Tried stalls such as the night hawker centre at Jln Imbi, the midday coffee shop at the same place (but across the road) as well, Tan Cheng Lock Hokkien Mee, a couple of backlane stalls at Jln Tun HS Lee as well as Pataling St. Food there is great. Kinda love it. :)
As for shopping, I got myself a couple of tee shirts, didnt get any jeans though. haha.. Places included Suria KLCC, Sungei Wang, Imbi Plaza & Chinatown (Pataling St)
Surfed at the LAN shop at Bt Bintang near my hotel on Thursday and Friday night. I got myself updated then with my friends as well as the latest news on the internet.
On the last day of the trip its kinda rushed. We set off from the hotel at 1100hrs, left KL (NS Highway toll plaza) at 1135hrs, reached malacca at 1245hrs for lunch at Hoe Kee Chicken Rice. We left Malacca at 1440hrs only to arrive at Singapore at 1705hrs, with a 15min toilet break at Yong Peng.
Saturday 31st Dec 2005:
Group: SP Year 2 Classmates
Place: Suntec City, Esplanade Bridge, Geylang, Upper Boon Keng
Meeting time was 1900hrs. Technically speaking I only have 2 hours from Tuas Checkpoint back home, and out again. My parents wanted to do some errands despite my hectic schedule. That's when i started to receive sms-es on my phone (I have no overseas roaming)...
I chiong down to Suntec in my father's car to meet Chris, Amber, Carolyn and Wendy. We couldnt think of a proper dinner place and so we ended ourselves at Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao. haha.. We kinda sat there until the shop was about to close and the kitchen staff are eating.
We went to Carrefour to buy drinks.. supposed to be alcohol but we settled for a bottle of mineral water. haha.. Had a nice walk to Esplanade Bridge for countdown. We finally settled down at some spot along the bridge because there's no space to walk and the walking wave somehow died-ed. Eventually we were stucked there for the countdown and the fireworks that followed.
We walked to Parliament House after everything, at the same time thinking of where to go after that... we were deciding between CHIJMES, MOS, Zouk and Changi Airport. We chose CHIJMES eventually and walked there promptly after that. It turned out that there is only one happening place in the whole area there. Someone thought of going kallang (its geylang actually) for KTV after that.. I was thinking of having some food there. And there we went...
At 2am we were making our way from City Hall to Geylang for supper and KTV. The NR7 that we were on was damn packed! Packed to the brim! Imagine that... haha...
We arrived there only to find out that the KTVs there closed at 2am.. and hence we went to Geylang Lor 9's Soya Bean Stall for some light snack. Its our first meal of the year! :) We finally went to nearby buildings to relax, only to encounter certain constraints before we ended up at a Residents' Corner of Blk 20 Geylang Lor 3.
We chatted loads of junk including maple until 0635hrs where its time to go home and rest. oh well.. We parted ways at Kallang MRT. Here are some pictures to show the highlights..
